International Soapbox Society

International Soapbox Society, a Division of DiMBy Co., Inc. - an independent company - is pleased to announce the second annual International Soapbox Festival as part of DiMBy’s (Diversity In My Back Yard) continuing commitment to excellence in artistic expression. The festival will bring its celebration of "strength in diversity" to St. Louis April 19-21, 2002. Members of the International Soapbox Society will occupy their "soapboxes" (small one-person stages) throughout the Soulard district, each taking part in the tradition of solo performance.

Participants may include: poets, musicians, evangelists of various faiths, mimes, comedians, storytellers, carnival barkers, jugglers, peddlers, activists, political orators, and other Society members. Festival attendance will be free and open to the public. Festivalgoers are encouraged to participate. Those interested in joining the society may consult www.dimbyville.com for information and annual rates

Performers are participating on a volunteer basis. Festival Organizers encourage tipping performers you specifically enjoy.

Friday April 19th - 7:00pm, Opening Ceremonies-Drum Circle at Soulard Markets Bandstand (Soulard Market) and will feature one Soapbox with various artists.

Friday April 19th – 9:00pm, Engagement Ceremonies. Ordained Minister Joshua Wolf will give couples of all faiths and lifestyles an opportunity to vow their love to their partner in preparation for their union of love on Sunday April 21.

Saturday April 20th - Vashon High School will host the International Soapbox Festival’s high school debates at 12 pm at the Soulard Market Bandstand.

Saturday April 20th - Soulard Coffee Garden will host the International Soapbox Festival’s International Kids Art Show from 10 am - 6 pm.

Saturday-Sunday April 20th & April 21st – Clementine’s Host A Columbus Ohio DJ Troupe who will visit the International Soapbox Festival for two days. Up to six DJ’s will spin their sounds with electrifying delight.

Saturday April 20th - Soulard Coffee Garden will host an Art Opening from 8-11 pm. This exhibit will be on display for one month.

Saturday & Sunday from 11am - 7pm - Putt-Putt Golf Course At the Market
